Message From the President

NOW IN OUR 21st YEAR!

It is my honor to introduce you to the Talk of the Towers Toastmasters Club. I am delighted to be surrounded by a very strong executive team. Kathy Loesberg our Vice President of Education, Christine Laspalakis our Vice President of Membership, Elizabeth Marsh our Vice President of Public Relations, James Decker our Secretary (and immediate past president), Thilmin Gee our Treasurer and Cecelia Wallace our Sergeant of Arms.

The club was founded and originally met on the 72nd Floor of 1 World Trade Center. Though having relocated near Union Square, our club's name pays tribute to its unique beginnings.

Talk of the Towers has been, and continues to be, one of the leading Toastmaster Clubs in New York City. Last year we received the President’s Distinguished Award for achieving 9 out of 10 Toastmaster International Goals and this year our focus is to have a Perfect 10."

When I first walked into Talk of the Towers Toastmasters Club I was in awe with the energy, enthusiasm, smiles and applause, and am still in awe today! Our guests comment on our professional yet fun meeting environment. We strive to maintain the mission of Toastmasters International, offering "a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth."

We are a diverse group and welcome members from all nationalities and walks of life. As a member of Talk of the Towers, you will have the opportunity to grow at your own pace while tapping into the experience of our senior members through our mentorship program. Toastmasters is a shared experience and a strong club is the foundation for the success of our members. In recognition thereof, our 2010-2011 club theme is: "Excel in the Journey. Celebrate the Destination."

Our recent relocation to the Union Square area has provided several membership opportunities. We are open to the public and there are no requirements to either visit or join us (email us by the Monday before the meeting so we can include you on the guest list). Membership availability may be limited by space on a first come, first served basis, so come visit us soon. Let’s join together to improve our communication, leadership, and public speaking skills!

Special Meeting: The Club's Humorous Speech Contest and Table Topics Contest will be held during our August 31st meeting.
